Bottom Line

Used primarily to identify songs, Shazam is a popular, essentially harmless app. It does allow users to share music discoveries via secondary social apps, but user-to-user interaction within the app is limited and not a cause for concern. With the ability to pull up lyrics and music videos, this app may display some content that parents would find objectionable.

Talking to Your Children

While Shazam is not an app parents should worry too much about, it is important to talk with your child about the music they are listening to and to be aware of any violence or profanity that they are exposed to through their choices.
