The Sims™ FreePlay

This is the mobile version of the EA game The Sims. The object of the game is to create a Sim family and gain social points by connecting with neighbors (other players' sims). The game encourages users to foster intimate relationships with other Sims and there is an option to "Woohoo" which is code for sex. The Sims' clothes disappear and they are blurred out but it is obvious to any knowing person what they are doing. Players can add neighbors by logging into Facebook but parents should know that there are plenty of websites and forums dedicated to finding strangers to play with and these are not blocked by Apple browser restrictions. Sims can drink alcohol, slap each other, be neglected or injured in house fires, and die. Parents should know if a child under 18 has this app and no child under 12 should have this on their device.
There are many aspects to this game that will expose your child to age inappropriate material. The gameplay itself involves mild realistic violence, alcohol references, and sexual themes. It is also possible for your child to play with strangers through websites and forums. If you choose to allow your child to play this game you should talk with them first about the risks involved. Ask them if they think the behaviors that their Sims engage in are appropriate in real life situations. Talk to them about who they are playing with and make sure they are friends from real life.
